Bob Heath was a long time loyal member of the Club who died suddenly of a heart attack in 1973. He was a familiar sight in his immaculate red Corvette, driving at Club events and around his hometown, Concord, NH. Bob simply went “above and beyond” the call of duty for a member. His sportsmanship, volunteerism and friendship were among the qualities that he exuded. He could always be counted on to do whatever was needed to help out at any event or function, basically he was someone that didn’t look for rewards or compliments – he simply did what needed to be done for the good of the club and it’s members. Jerry and Linda Venne created the Bob Heath Memorial Trophy in 1973 which is presented by the board of directors to an outstanding Club member that demonstrates Bob’s spirit.

Dave Erb was the son of long time club members Les and Margaret Erb of Hudson NH . Dave was a member of the club from the time he was a teenager until his sudden death. During that time he was on his dad’s pit crew while he (Les) ran his Lotus Super Seven with SCCA in a production class at Regional and National events. Dave was active in autocrosses and ice racing with SCCNH running several types of vehicles form Fiat 128 with his dad Les as well as Dave’s own Super Seven street car. Dave was an active member who not only competed but worked at events and was a joy to be around. He was a positive and active person who enjoyed snow skiing and outdoor activities as well as sports car related interests. Regretfully Dave lost his life way too early. Dave’s parents felt that since SCCNH was an important part of their family’s life (as well as Dave’s) that an annual award was a fitting way to remember Dave to the club so they created the Dave Erb trophy to recognize the person who accumulated the most worker/driver points during the year as Dave was active in both working and driving at club events.

¹ Donation/Sponsorship includes such items as worker lunches/dinners at events, trophies for events, door prizes, worker gifts, etc. These need to be cleared with the chairperson beforehand for appropriateness and to avoid duplication.
² Multiple entry (e.g. 2 different classes) earns multiple finishing points. Autocross points are based on working the event as required by our autocross rules.
³ Non-Competitive events include Christmas Party, Open Houses, Car Washes, Auto Shows, etc. To encourage training of new people, Chiefs of Specialties at Hillclimbs may have someone work with them to learn the position and points will be awarded at the Assistant level. Any entrant who receives free or reduced-cost entry in exchange for working at an event will receive the appropriate worker and finishing points, but not entry points for that event.

Perl and Shirley Benner were consummate professionals in an amateur/volunteer sport. Perl kept our communication gear operational while Shirley was the ultimate corner worker. Together this team would see that things ran smooth and would train new commers in the correct way to do that. They made sure that what ever they were doing was done to the best of their ability and followed through to completion, all the while never asking for recognition or celebration of their efforts. After thier passing this award was created to recognize the best worker of the year.
